AC Milan midfielder Michael Essien was unable to train with the Ghana team in Brazil on Wednesday due to a toe injury.
The former Chelsea ace picked up the injury during the Black Stars’ opening game against USA on Monday. Essien came on as a second half substitute as the four-time African champions lost 2-1.
According to the Ghana FA website, the team medics are monitoring his fitness for Ghana's World Cup group clash against Germany on Saturday.
“Ghana's medical team are working to get him ready after watching training in Maceio from the sidelines,” the report added.
Coach Kwesi Appiah’s side will be hoping to beat powerhouse Germany to keep their hopes alive at the World Cup.
