Former Attorney General Betty Mould-Iddrisu has applauded Mrs Sophia Akuffo on her nomination as Ghana’s next Chief Justice.
President Nana Akufo-Addo officially nominated Justice Sophia Akuffo as the next Chief Justice on Friday, 12 May. She will replace Mrs Theodora Georgina Wood who retires on 8 June.
In a congratulatory message, Mrs Mould-Iddrisu said the new Chief Justice has “excellent credentials”.
“I'm truly delighted by the choice of Sophia Akuffo as the next Chief Justice of Ghana. Ghana has led the way and stayed the course. She has excellent credentials and has impeccable gender credentials all her working life. Her Ladyship Chief Justice, my senior in the law and most respected woman on the bench, I welcome you as I welcomed Her Ladyship Georgina Wood some few years ago to this prestigious and high leadership position. I am confident of your success as I was of hers. God bless you and grant you the courage to lead Ghana at the bench in Africa and the world at large,” the former Attorney General said.
Speaking to Emefa Apawu on 505 on Class91.3FM on Friday, Mrs Mould-Iddrisu added that Mrs Akuffo is “certainly fit and qualified for the position” and wished her “every success” in her new role.
