Akufo-Addo won't 'test the waters' before retiring his appointees – Carlos Ahenkorah

Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah has debunked rumours that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will soon kick out some state Enterprises CEO’s out of his government.

According to him there is no letter to the effect that President Akufo-Addo is embarking on a reshuffling exercise or removing from office some government appointees above sixty[60] years.

“It is never true that government has intentionally brought up names of people he wants to remove from office into public domain to test the waters . . . The President takes into account public opinions before taking decisions and he needs nobody to help him do this,” he added.

The Member of Parliament for Tema West constituency said he has had personal interactions and verified from the alleged affected CEO’s yet none of them say they have received any letter to that effect.

Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Minister for Information has debunked reports that 8 CEOs have been sacked by President Akufo-Addo.

"Government has not written to any CEO to retire…it’s not true" the minister who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ofoase-Ayirebi Constituency said.

He, however, pointed out that some Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) who have reached the retirement age are "being engaged by government", though "no directives" have been issued to them to step down.
