Dozens of demonstrators who converged Chirano close to Bibiani in the Western Region to register their protest over the dismissal of Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transport Company BOST, Alfred Obeng Boateng have been arrested and detained.

Leader of the group Solomon Kwame Boamah (Bekoe) who confirmed the incident to MyNewsGH.com a while ago, said they traveled from Kogyina where the President was set to cut the sod of a project to Chirano but were stopped by a combined team of armed and police and military personnel.

“We were holding placards and not doing anything to suggest our demonstration was violent but they asked us to move away from the scene. Led by one Abrakwah, a national security operative and a resident of the area, they forced us out”, he disclosed.

According to him, they went on board their vehicle and headed towards they came from but they crossed us on the way and directed the driver to take us Ahwiaso where we were locked up without a charge.

“The police commander just released us on bail and asked us to conduct ourselves well or they will be forced to lock us up on the instructions a higher authority.

The police have not been available for comment but just to say the demonstrators failed to heed to the public order act.

He said they are worried over Mr Obeng Boateng’s dismissal considering how he was good to the young and old and worked towards developing the area wondering what would happen to the rest of them following his sack.

“We are all worried that this thing is happening. If this can happen to Obeng Boateng then we ourselves we are not safe but I know we have some members who will go to the new venue and register our displeasure to the President”, he added.

Meanwhile Director of Communications at the presidency, Eugene Arhin on Wednesday disclosed that the Managing Director of BOST and the Director General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Eugene Arhin noted that the president thought that they had served the country well in their respective roles but were not towing the line of the vision of the president, hence the need for them to go so that a new crop of people are brought in to work in tandem with the vision of the president.
