Ododiodioo Men and Women Fellowship which is a group associated with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has petitioned President Nana Akufo-Addo to appoint a matured, and respectable person as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).
The group is also admonishing the president to appoint an indigene for the position.
According to them, the Ga State can only be developed and transformed if someone who is competent, elderly and a good mayor, who has considerable experience in life and hails from the Ga-Mashie area.
In an interview with Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm on Frontline the leader of the group, Mr. Nii Lante Hanson said they need somebody who is matured and can deal with the cross section of the indigenes in the area.
He said the challenges in the Ga state are enormous hence, they want someone who has considerable knowledge of these challenges to help resolve them.
Chieftaincy disputes, unemployment, among others are confronting us and so we want a mayor who will have our interest at heart and pursue a course to develop the Ga state. We want to see considerable development in the Ga State, and that can only be pursued by a matured, experienced and a grass root person.’’
He added we don’t want any experiment in Accra again. We do not want anyone to come and experiment with us again.
When asked who the group has proposed for the position, he said, ‘’two names have popped up. Some have proposed lawyer Kojo Smith and Adjei Sowah. However, Adjei Sowah is not matured enough and is not a grass root person. Lawyer Smith on the other hand, is experienced, matured and the preferred choice. All the traditional leaders are for Kojo Smith and that is why we are proposing him. Maturity is not about age but experience and track record, and these traits, Adjei Sowah lacks."
He alleged that Adjei Sowah is being used by some individuals who have planned to manipulate him.
"Adjei Sowah will be manipulated. He cannot take any decision on his own. He is only being used by some faceless individuals to manipulate things and that is something we want to kick against," he added.
He stressed that they do not want Adjei Sowah to be appointed and will be extremely shocked if lawyer Kojo Smith is sidelined.
