Bryan Acheampong’s reassignment to the Interior Ministry is a means to rig the December 7 elections by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kevin Ekow Baidoo Taylor has alleged.

In an over two-hour show on Loud Silence Radio, Kevin Taylor noted that the President Akufo-Addo is preparing his ‘killing’ machines for the elections and Bryan Acheampong is the only person who can execute the President’s mandate.

He said the National Security Minister Albert Kan-Dapaah is of high integrity and he will not fall for the devilish acts of the president hence Bryan Acheampong must be sacrificed for it.

“Akufo-Addo knows that he cannot tell Kan-Dapaah to go and manipulate, kill or intimidate Ghanaians who want to exercise their rights, so he has to fall on a lapdog who can do anything he asks,” Mr Taylor added.

He explained that Bryan Acheampong has been reshuffled to the Interior Ministry because the ministry will oversee the December 7 elections.

“As we speak now Kan-Dapaah has been rendered useless and everybody knows what Bryan Acheampong is made up off. That guy is a killing machine! Bryan Acheampong organised criminals to go to Ayawaso to brutalize Ghanaians, shoot Ghanaians because of power. This Bryan Acheampong guy will do anything Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Gabby Asare Okyere-Darko tell him to do. If they tell him to cut his d**k and chew it, this guy will do it. He is indebted to them,” Kevin Taylor stressed.

Background

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Thursday morning reassigned the Minister of State at the Ministry of National Security, Bryan Acheampong and Henry Quartey, the Deputy Minister of Interior with immediate effect.

"Hon. Bryan Acheampong, MP, Minister of State at the Ministry of National Security, is now Minister of State at the Ministry of Interior;"

"Hon. Henry Quartey, MP, Deputy Minister for Interior, is now deputy Minister at the Ministry of National Security," read a statement issued by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin on Thursday morning [February 13, 2020].

The statement did not provide reasons for the reassignments. However, Graphic Online gathers there has been some talking in government circles and within the security agencies of friction between Mr Bryan Acheampong and the Minister of National Security, Mr Albert Kan-Dapaah.

The issue of clarity of roles between the Minister for National Security and the Minister of State at the national security ministry came up during the work of the Emile Short Commission on the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence.

The Commission's report indicated that there should be a clear role for the Minister of State at the National Security, however, that recommendation was shot down by the government in its subsequent White Paper on the matter.
