Members of the Builsa North District Assembly have been lauded for endorsing the President’s nomination of Mr. David Afoko as Chief Executive Officer for the area.
Mr Afoko who is the younger brother of suspended National Chairman of the party, Paul Awentami Afoko, on Friday, May 12, 2017, polled 30 votes representing 69.7% out of a total of 43 with 13 dissenting to secure a first round endorsement.
The Executive Director of The Press Foundation, TPF, Listowell Yesu Bukarson said the endorsement of the nominee confirms the confidence reposed in him by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
“This confirmation simply vindicates the President,” he added.
“People made all kinds of comments and took all kinds of action in protest of his nomination but in the end, the assembly has spoken and spoken so forcefully to justify the decision of the President to nominate Mr Afoko against all odds,” he emphasised.
“It will be recalled that moments after the announcement of the nominee, a few people expressed disgust and protested his nomination but yesterday, the assembly proved that the President made no mistake in nominating Mr. Afoko,” Mr Bukarson stressed.
“It’s time to move on. Mr Afoko must not just lead, but must lead by bringing all together with the common aim of bringing about development to the district,” he said.
“He must have a big heart of a leader, eschew partisanship and vindictiveness, and bring all the people together towards the collective benefit of the people of the district," he hoped.
