Indian High Commissioner to Ghana calls on Agric Minister-designate

The Minister-designate for Food and Agriculture (MOFA) Hon. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, has commended the government of India for her continuous support to Ghana.

The Minister-designate says the fruitful and cordial relationship between the two countries must be maintained in order to ensure mutual economic and social benefits.

Hon. Dr. Afriyie Akoto made the statement when the Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, His Excellency Birender Singh and his Secretary called on him at his office today.

Both parties had successful bilateral discussions on how to improve agriculture and agribusiness in Ghana in order to ensure the development of the sector.

The interactions specifically centred on how India can assist Ghana in the development of agroprocessing, agriculture mechanisation/implements as well as drying facilities for agricultural produce.

The Minister designate indicated that Government of Ghana, under the leadership of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo, was fully committed towards the development of the agriculture as a major sector for economic development and prosperity.

On his part, the Indian High Commissioner, His Excellency Birender Singh, said his government will continue to support Ghana in diverse ways to ensure the growth and development of the agricultural sector.
