The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has slammed the General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Rev. Opuni Frimpong over what he termed his hypocrisy and silence over the attacks and seizure of state property by the New Patriotic Party’s (NPPs) Invincible Forces.
He is, therefore, challenging the renowned man of God to "remove his political NPP cassock", break his silence and condemn the attacks on the NDC supporters and the unlawful seizure of state property.
According to him, Rev. Opuni Frimpong exposed his ignorance by supporting the call for a new voters register prior the polls because he supported the NPP hence, the need for him to condemn the attacks.
He was speaking to Kwame Tutu host of Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm following the press conference held by the NDC to express their frustration and displeasure over the attacks on Thursday.
He reiterated that, the President, Nana Akufo-Addo has refused to call the invincible forces to order because he is personally financing and endorsing their activities.
He accused the NPP leader of being dishonest adding, ‘’we warned Ghanaians not to vote for Nana Addo because should they vote for him, there will be lawlessness and violence but, they refused to listen and now the invincible forces have started unleashing mayhem on Ghanaians. I also find it strange that the General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Rev. Opuni Frimpong has refused to condemn the attacks. I am shocked but it also exposes his hypocrisy. He ignorantly supported the call for a new register when he knew nothing about it all because of his allegiance to the NPP. He should remove his political party cassock and condemn the attacks and unlawful seizures. I challenge him to that. He should do it now,'' Anyidoho fumed.
