The Minister-designate for Information Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has said that the maiden reshuffle exercise by President Akufo-Addo is the best formation the president has put in place to achieve his manifesto plans.
According to him, the president at every point in time evaluates members of his government by moving people around in accordance to achieving his plans for the country ahead of the 2020 election.
“Where you are in your journey as a president and what you want to achieve you will behind the football expression play a particular formation and play people in particular roles to achieve your objective.
“So the President is one and half years into his tenure, he’s of the view that he has to make this limited shuffles at this point in time to get his team to deliver what remains on the agenda currently, so the reshuffle is driven strictly by the fact that the President want to align people to certain specific role”he said.
He explained that, the prerogative of the President is to maximise the strength of his appointees by assigning each of them to new roles which he expects them to perform in realisation of his plans for the country.
He also went ahead to debunk some assertion and speculation in the media that his new position as the substantive minister for Information is as a result of the rift between him [Oppong Nkrumah] and his former boss Mustapha Hamid.
“Everybody who comes up with the lies either does not know the inner working of the information ministry and the relationship between me and outgoing boss or is just being mischievous. It was the Hon. Dr. Abdul Mustapha Hamid who initially mentioned me to the president to come and take over from him during the transition”
For him, the real challenge ahead is delivering the expectations of the people in accordance with the President’s direction.
