Close sources to the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sam Pyne has revealed that he is likely to decline an appointment as Board Member of Kumasi Abattoir.
The party’s Regional Communications Director, Kwesi Kyei may opt out after news about the appointment of the two gained media attention at the weekend, sources say.
They subsequently became subjects of trolling since the issue of a board managing one of the oldest slaughter houses in Ghana is not known to the public.
Sam Pyne and Kwesi Kyei ‘s appointment as board members of the Kumasi Abattoir sparked controversy within the party late last week.
According to sources available to this portal, the two were eyeing juicy positions in the party but were swerved and rather appointed into the board that is partly owned by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).
It is gathered that the appointments of the two was even based on the intervention of the former Minister of Defense and a leading member of the party, Dr Kwame Addo Kufuor.
This is said to have compelled the two to accept the appointments after expressing their disappointment in President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo considering how they suffered for the party to win the 2016 polls.
“Isaac, I can tell you that Sam is not happy with this abattoir board member appointment, he accepted it because of the respect he has for his Boss Dr Addo Kufuor,’’ a source revealed to Ultimate FM’s Isaac Justice Bediako.
He added, “You know the contribution of Sam in NPP’s election 2016 victory right, yet his loyalty and hard work has not been recognized by the appointing authority. This appointment according to Dr. Kwame Addo Kuffuor is just to keep him active, can you imagine that,’’ he asked.
Further checks reveal the two will be entitled to GHC200, stipends at each sitting as well as some quantity of meat weekly.
But credible sources indicate that the two may officially write to decline the appointments their supporters describe as demeaning.
