While a few people have rallied behind Communications Minister, Ursula Owusu Ekuful’s letter to Ato Forson in which she said she won’t accept advice on morality from a “brothel”, many have criticized her for the controversial letter, mainly faulting her for sounding” arrogant” and “unministerial”.
Background of letter
Following the Minister’s directive to telecommunications companies (telcos) not to charge the Communication Service Tax CST) upfront, Cassiel Ato Forson, who is a Member of Parliament(MP), wrote to her indicating that she had no mandate to give such directives on tax implementation.
Seeming to be angered by his letter, Ms Owusu-Ekuful hit back in a strongly worded letter in which she stated that she understood the law on the tax differently and even though Mr Forson was entitled to his own interpretation, she wouldn’t accept advice on morality from a brothel.
This “advice from a brothel” caught the attention of many people, who have called her out on it.
