Defeated Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Daniel Bugri Naabu has denied media reports about his wheelchair saga, saying he was never pushed to the election ground over the weekend bound in a wheelchair.
There were various reports of the maverick politician ‘miraculously’ walking on his feet after sadly losing the NPP Regional polls last weekend when he’d allegedly been ushered into the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium before the elections pinned in his wheelchair.
Critics say Naabu getting his mangled car towed to the venue and also appearing at the grounds in a wheelchair exposes his tact to win sympathy votes from the delegates.
But reacting to those claims on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM Monday, Mr Bugri Naabu’s Aide, Simark Sheraz said the immediate past Regional Chairman was escorted out just like the way he was being escorted inside when he appeared at the grounds.
“It’s false reportage, it is totally not true, it’s unfair for any reporter to report that way. Chairman Bugri Naabu never went inside the conference on a wheelchair, and he never stood up after addressing on a wheelchair” Simark told host Fiifi Banon.
He laughed at the absurdity of the situation that his Boss will just fake his unfortunate accident for the purpose of gaining sympathy votes as being speculated by some persons.
The former regional chairman polled a shocking 116 votes while his contender, Mohammed A. Bantima Samba, secured 312 of the 566 total votes cast.
Bugri Naabu on his return from a campaign tour in the region on Thursday, April 26 was involved in a near fatal accident but pulled through sustaining minor injuries.
It is alleged that Bugri Naabu faked his accident just to gain attention and sympathy votes from his people.
