President Mahama hails Ablakwa as one of his best-performing ministers

President John Dramani Mahama has singled out Minister of Foreign Affairs and North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa as one of the standout performers in his administration, crediting him with driving many of Ghana’s recent diplomatic successes.

Speaking during the opening of his Resetting Ghana Tour in the Volta Region on July 16, 2026, the President described Ablakwa as among the hardest-working ministers in his government while addressing residents at the sod-cutting ceremony for a Category Four 24-Hour Economy Model Market in Juapong.

Introducing the Foreign Affairs Minister, President Mahama praised both his commitment to national service and his continued focus on the development of the North Tongu constituency.

“Your Member of Parliament, our hardworking Minister of Foreign Affairs, indeed, I must tell you that he is among my hardest-working ministers,” President Mahama said.

The President went further, attributing much of the recognition his administration has earned internationally to the work of the Foreign Affairs Minister.

“Every credit that I have attained on the international scene, it is he that has done the legwork,” he stated.

President Mahama highlighted Ghana’s successful campaign for a United Nations resolution on reparations as a prime example of Ablakwa’s efforts, explaining that the minister personally led extensive diplomatic engagements to secure international backing for the initiative.

“The UN Resolution on Reparations, it is he who did the traveling to convince all the 123 countries to vote for us,” the President said.
