My American friend's son who was at Legon for an exchange program, showed me his voters ID although he does not have Ghanaian citizenship. He told me he got in line and no one questioned him so he registered while in Ghana. He sees it as a joke or fun, because he calls his souvenir from Ghana.

I understand what people are saying about the bloated register but my question is what is the strategy to prevent folks in line from not getting registered? Unless we ask for tax forms, baptismal certificates, birth certificates, passports etc., that identifies a Ghanaian I don't see how we get a clean register. Does the opposition or those asking for a new register have a strategy? I know technically this should be the work of the EC office but I see the work being thrown over the fence to others to show evidence. It is obvious that minors have been registered and the EC knows that, the EC should be able to come up with a strategy to clean that out of the register rather than asking the opposition for evidence.

You've made some good points but the problem is, documents that can be used as proof of citizenship or age i.e. birth certificate, passport, national ID etc., can all be forged in Ghana. However, if a suspected non-citizen is identified on the voters register, the credibility of such a person can be investigated and verified.

The issue of age on the other hand can be a bit tricky when an under-age person without documentary proof of date of birth, goes to register with the dubious-consent of his/her parents.

As a country, we should start linking Birth and Death Registry, National Database, Voters Register, Taxation and Passport offices by way of near real-time data sharing.

The NDC tricksters are again trying to blindfold Ghanaians in order to rig the 2016 elections because they know they have failed miserably and Ghanaians want them out.

NDC has never accepted that the voters' register was bloated and corrupted. In fact, they claimed it was clean, credible and ready for use in the 2016 elections. We can only deliberate on whether to change or clean the present voters' register when we all know and accept that there are problems with the register, and the magnitude of the problem will determine which of the options to choose. How can NDC advocate for cleaning the voter's register when it refuses to accept that it is tainted and corrupted?

The NDC/EC league should have investigated the corrupted and boated register allegations to make sure that they exist before embarking on the solicitation of views on whether to go for a new voters' register or clean the present one. How do you clean something you don't believe it exists in the first place?

Cleaning or changing the voters' register will depend on the magnitude of the problem as we have stated earlier. Whereas NPP believes the problem is huge and requires a new register, the NDC party denies existence of any problem in the register and yet advocates for cleaning it. So, what do they want to clean?

The ec had made it simple by saying bring names not just allegations showing voters from Togo exist in our Ketu south so they can cross check if these names are actually foreigners or Ghanaians. Just farting that Ketu south register which had been used three times in three ejections already is bloated don't mean much without proving anything tangible. The facial recognition crap bawumia spoke of in the press was also absent in npp allegations thought he beat the press with it because they themselves know that is crap.

NPP had seen the writing on the wall and trying to foment trouble but rest assured we shall not allow any thugs to do so because we have a military and security forces ready to preserve the peace

It is only an allegation if you have no documentation to prove it. The EA has all the authority to ask for a proof. Else after 2016, if NPP looses the election, they have someone to blame for their failure. I believe this is a well planned scenario to divert attention from the turmoil boiling inside the NPP.

This means that the onus is on the NPP to provide the evidence. It is not the court, the prosecutor, or the other disputant to provide a proof.

Why all of a sudden dr Bawumia and his boss akuffo addo strategically left Ghana at the same time when this all important debate was to take place? During their gymnastics at the Supreme Court dr Bawumia created the impression that he was the master of all intellect in Ghana but he fell flat on the face after the whole drama. On the allegations on the voters register, he replicated the same gymnastics but why is he and his master run away from Ghana at this crucial time that they were needed at the forum? Ghanaians should bear in mind that all that akuffo addo and his supporters are doing is to plunge Ghana into civil war because he knows it for sure Ghanaians won't make the greatest mistake to make him a president of Ghana. If the EC are unable to answer this simple question that suggest there is more to the NPP allegation of some people within the EC itself being culpable in tampering with the register. The NPP doesn't want some of the disgraceful evidence of fraud to be make too open for international viewers. But they may be compelled to provide such things to the public if the EC demands that they go public. People ain't seen nothing yet! Just wait a little bit Dr. Bawumia will finish off with the meeting in Europe and will soon be back home to participate in the on-going EC's debate of the voters register.

NPP's real problem is that, it lacks wise leadership This is a leadership that believes it can use pure argument to prove anything - to prove that green is red. Ever since Akufo Addo took over the commanding heights of the NPP, it has constantly been one litigation after another. But for the fact that the then outgoing president, HE JA Kufuor had conceded defeat to President Mills in the 2008 election, Akufo's first petition would have been in 2008 because he believed he had won it.
His loss in 2012 was more decisive but he claimed the EC had tampered with the figures to his disadvantage. However when he went to the SC, his request was that millions of votes in the places he lost should be annulled for him to be declared winner. For nearly one year, the country stood still while the hearing of the petition went on. At the end, the petition was thrown out but an irreparable damage had already been done to the economy as the whole country followed the petition hearing not knowing what would haplen. Now, the 2016 election has not yet been held but Akufo Addo's NPP is already up in arms with several complaints about the voter's register. As the EC boss plainly put it, even before an NPP complaint is responded to, another complaint is raised. They claim the voters register is bloated because they compared it with those of Nigeria and Kenya as if these are the only other countries in the world. They childishly claim 2 different registers were used for the presidential and parliamentary elections in 2012 as if voters were verified seperately for each ballot. They claimed that they found over 76,000 Togolese in our register after completing 10% of the comparison of the 2 registers - they promised they were going to do similar comparisons with the voters registers of Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast. Up to now they have gone quiet on the rest of comparisons - ie 90% of Togo's register plus the registers in Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast - they continue talking about the results of the 10% comparison of Gogo's register. They foolishly assume that they are the only persons who can add one to one so whatever the say should be accepted without question.
Meanwhile more important matters of unity and cohesion in the NPP have been thrown overboard. As a result, the NPP has now become synonymous with confusion. It is now clear to all observers that JDM is going for a landslide in 2016. As long as Akufo Addo remains at the helm of affairs of the NPP, the NPP will be fragmented.

The Ndc is trying everything possible to rig the elections with the help of the EC . Because of their thievery they are scared to lose power. Shine your eyes Ghanaians. The EC MUST not help any party to steal the mandate of the people. God will punish those criminals.

You're not the only one who has done law. Evidence must be substantial to deserve attention, or to convince the sitting judge. It must have the quality of prima facie.

You have alleged, and you want Mrs. Charlotte Osei to go and look for evidence. If this is not higher degree stupidity, what is it? Look. Don't waste our time. Bring your evidence.
