Port Ladies Association appreciate God for guiding the president to appoint first female director of Tema Port
The Port ladies Association of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority has held a thanksgiving service to thank the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for appointing Sandra Opoku as the first female Director of Tema Port.
Clad in white, the port ladies worshiped and danced to thank God for making it possible for a member of the association to be appointed to head the largest port in Ghana, the Port of Tema.
The Ag. Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Michael Luguje said women empowerment and gender equality is very fundamental to the Port Authority as many women occupy several managerial positions.
The Director of Takoradi Port, Captain Ebenezer Afadzi solicited the support of staff to ensure that Sandra Opoku succeeds as the director of Tema Port.
The President of PLASS, Philippa Amanda Armah said Sandra Opoku is bringing something unique to the table and that she is very optimistic that she will lift Tema Port to the next level.
The Director of Tema Port, Sandra Opoku transhipment will be promoted so as to position the Port of Tema as the hub in the West African coast.
She said Tema Port will be working with other stakeholders to ensure a speedy clearance of goods at the Port.
Sandra Opoku, a lawyer and a former General Manager in charge of Administration as well as Legal Affairs becomes the first lady to be appointed to head any of Ghana's Ports, Takoradi or Tema as Director.
