The vice presidential nominee of the All People’s Party (APC) Emmanuel Carl Bartels has hit back at his disqualified presidential nominee Dr Hassan Ayariga describing him as uncouth and a very disrespectful leader who should be ignored by the Ghanaian populace.
According to him, the leadership and some members of the party have deserted Dr Ayariga because he lacks decorum and has been making ridiculous statements.
Mr Bartels and the party leadership over the weekend endorsed the presidential nominee of New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo whilst Dr Ayariga who also endorsed President Mahama.
He claims to have sacked the party leadership because the party belongs to him and that the leadership cannot use the party to propagate their agenda.
Speaking with Kwame Adinkrah on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo, Mr Bartels explained that the party leadership had to tow a line of supporting NPP when Dr Ayariga dragged his feet in his decision making.
He wondered why majority of Ghanaians are hoodwinked to the whims and caprices of Dr Ayariga whenever he paints Nana Addo black on the airwaves describing him as not credible.
He further took the disappointed presidential hopeful to the cleaners adding that he regretted and feel ashamed of accepting his offer to be his running mate.
Mr Bartels indicated that he belongs to the UP tradition and that it’s not strange that he is now supporting Nana Addo and the NPP saying he is back to his roots.
‘When we were approached by NPP and requested for his views and he told us that he is neither here nor there and that when the time comes he will take a decision because three parties had approached him, so we sensed that was a ploy. And he wanted to keep things to his chest. So we decided to go ahead with our plans, whatever he wants to do let him do, we also realised that after all the bulk of the party were not with him because of his style of leadership.
Very very disrespectful, very uncouth in the way he handles matters in the office, you know you can imagine, he lacks decorum in the way he treated me, as a person, I don’t want to personalise it, but he extended that to all members of the party, people whom he had assembled to help build the party. We said there is nothing in this party for anybody so let us take a principle, worthy stance and tell him that we can do without him. Let him go to hell, he is a man of his own imagination,’ he fumed.
