Ghana’s president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, says the integrity of the 36 people nominated to man the respective ministries, will give them a smooth sail through parliamentary vetting next week.

Announcing the last batch of ministers for the mainstream ministries, Nana Akufo-Addo said he does not expect the Appointments Committee of Parliament to have issues or any difficulty in approving his nominees. “I’m okay that the calibre of people that we have put before the [Parliament] House is such that the Parliament will not have any difficulty in approving my nominees,” he said.

The President said he does not anticipate and long processes at the vetting of the 36 ministers-designate, six of whom he explained will work from the Presidency and not have structural ministry. “I’m not anticipating there should be any long process…many of them are well known figures in our national life,” he said, adding “They’re men and women of integrity. They have passed several test of public scrutiny.

Nana Akufo-Addo has thus urged Parliament, which is currently on a week recess for its new members to attend orientation programme, to expedite action on the vetting to enable him “have a government and begin delivery on the promises and the commitments we’ve made to Ghanaian people”
